Hey everybody.
I’ve been a little lax lately with my posts, for which I apologize. Starting my YouTube channel has taken up much of my free time, but I have some great stuff for Substack in the works (with some exciting collaborations, too).
At present, I’m trying to figure out what will live on auva, what will live on YouTube, and what will live in both worlds.
Right now, my simple goal with YouTube is to simply keep making one video per week, on whatever I choose.
My first video is called, “How Overthinking Kills Creativity,” and my second is called “Why Artists and Creatives Must Be Sensitive.”
(I also put one of my Substack videos, 𒋗𒅗𒂵(shuduga), on YouTube, and it has gotten more interest than I expected—and some funny comments.)
Titling these videos is weird. I’d rather give them more interesting names, but the internet being what it is, I have to make them broad enough with (hopefully) enough of a hook that the right people will be interested.
I’m also not scripting my videos right now, which has pros and cons, but I’m getting a feel for it. It’s tricky not getting obsessive about the number of views, comments, likes, etc., especially since I would love for my channel to be monetized at some point, but for now, the goal is consistency. And I really do want a community to engage with and to entertain, be it with talking head videos, interviews, art, or all of the above.
If you’d like to support my YouTube journey you can can so in a number of ways—all for free!
You can subscribe to my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@danielthelistener
Note: If you want to receive alerts each time I post a video, you’ll have to click the little bell icon and turn on notifications for my videos.
Another massively helpful thing you can do, in addition to watching/liking/commenting on videos, is sharing my videos. You can send them directly to others who might be interested, post links on your social media accounts, or both. It actually makes a huge difference when just one person shares one video. (For example, a friend once shared a Substack post of mine on Instagram, and it reached over 300 more accounts than usual.)
I’ve created some simple polls to start engaging with people more directly. If you have 10 seconds right now, please give them a quick look and choose a response for each question (or if you want to go a bit further, leave a comment!).
Finally, I am making YouTube shorts using clips of existing videos (but making them a little punchier and adding music) if you want to get a taste for them.
I think that’s quite enough about YouTube for now! I hope everyone is doing well. More writing, videos, and audio will be coming to auva very soon!
Thanks for being here, as always.
Warmly,
_daniel of auva_
